This is a heart warming narrative about two families who have relocated to Cloud Street, situated in suburban Australia.
The story highlights community spirit and neighbourliness and it is quite a light-hearted read.
The writer describes a somewhat idyllic environment. There is, however, a quite distinct turning point relating to a murder investigation within a normally carefree community. However this macabre occurrence does not dominate the story.
I would suggest that this is a novel filled mainly with amusing and uplifting mini anecdotes and not too demanding. It is pleasurable escapism, a very touching read.

Two poor families live together, but divided in a house full of unhappy memories. They eventually overcome their own tragedies and come together, symbolically taking down the fence and the house becomes a home. Brilliant read! 9/10
Enjoyed the story of the families, but not all the otherworldly parts. 7/10 Burley Reading Group
